MCHENRY, IL – The deadline for PreK-12 districts and schools to submit their nominations for the 2020 Follett Challenge is noon CST Thursday, Dec. 12. The ninth annual contest formally launched in October with more ways to win a portion of $200,000 (USD) in Follett products and/or services that will be awarded.
The change in prize structure calls for a 200 percent increase in the number of semifinalists from previous years. Nineteen prizes will be awarded in all, including $5,000 in products and services to each of the 10 People’s Choice winners, and $15,000 in products and services to each of the nine semifinalists from the elementary, middle and high school categories. From the semifinalists, one grand-prize winner will be selected and will earn an additional $15,000 for a total of $30,000.
There are vast resources on the contest website to help entrants get underway or continue with the nomination they started. Nominations will be reviewed by a judging committee, which includes James Patterson, best-selling author and global literacy advocate. All winners will be announced March 23, 2020.
The Follett Challenge annually rewards innovative educational programs teaching 21st-century skills to students that illustrate critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration. All public and private K-12 schools/districts in the United States, Canada, and Australia are eligible to apply.
Since the contest’s inception, the Follett Challenge has recognized schools of all sizes and demographics.
