MCHENRY, Ill., July 10, 2024 — Educators may now schedule dates for Follett Book eFairs, which it was announced last month are returning after debuting four years ago. The new iteration of online book fairs, available to all PreK-8 schools in the United States, are timed conveniently for back to school in September.
Even if a school has an on-site event scheduled, a Book eFair can be arranged for other times throughout the school year. The registration page may be accessed by visiting book-efairs.follettcontent.com with Sept. 3 as the first date available.
In addition to being easy to set up with flexible scheduling and no minimum sales requirements, Book eFairs also represent an excellent opportunity for schools and districts to raise money.
Since the third and final round of ESSER funds must be obligated by the end of September, and with schools and districts being asked to find new funding sources, Britten Follett said the online book fairs are “a perfect and easy opportunity to help meet fundraising goals while getting books in the hands of students.”
“Our online book fairs will encourage students to be strong, independent readers as they conveniently shop for the titles they know and love,” added Follett, CEO, Follett Content Solutions.
Requiring only five minutes to set up, Book eFairs will feature a wide selection of physical books, with hundreds of new releases and popular fiction and nonfiction titles from leading PreK-8 publishers. Students also can create wish lists and share them with family members and friends. Librarians and teachers, too, may make their donation wish lists known to advise parents what titles they would like for their school and classroom libraries.
Among the most popular titles available this fall:
The Wild Robot (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers), a #1 New York Times bestselling novel from Peter Brown that also is being released as a DreamWorks movie in late September.Pizza and Taco: Wrestling Mania! (Random House Graphic), a graphic novel from Stephen Shaskan.Fire Flight: A Wildfire Escape (Capstone), a picture book authored by Cedar Pruitt and illustrated by Chiara Fedele. For the fall season, Book eFairs—which typically will run for a two-week period—are available through Dec. 6 to ensure books arrive prior to the holiday break. After each event closes, the online orders will be shipped quickly and free of charge to the school. On the school’s end, distribution is made effortless as the books are received pre-packaged by student and boxed by classroom.
As an added benefit, for every dollar an online book fundraiser earns, schools will receive 20 percent back in the form of a Titlewave Promotional Credit that may be used to buy books to enhance school and classroom libraries.
“One of my favorite parts is the rewards, which are very important to our collection development efforts throughout the year,” said Shannon Miller, director of innovation of instructional technology and library media at Van Meter School in Iowa. “I am so excited Follett Book eFairs are back!”
